Privacy policy
Last updated: 16 August 2026
Modest Wholesale ("we", "us" or "our") operates the wholesale store at https://www.modestwholesale.com and all catalogue pages, account areas, ordering tools and forms offered through it (the "Services"). We are a modest fashion manufacturer and wholesaler based in Istanbul, Türkiye, supplying business customers worldwide. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect when you browse the Services, register an account, place an order or contact us, how we use and share it, and your choices.
Our store is hosted on the Shopify platform. By using the Services you confirm that you have read this policy, which prevails over our Terms of Service on the subject of personal information. This is a general template policy for our own store; it is not legal advice.
Personal Information We Collect or Process
"Personal information" means information that identifies you or can reasonably be linked to you. Most of our customers are companies, so much of what we hold relates to a business — but the details of the individual acting for that business are personal information, and we treat them accordingly. We may collect or process:
- Business and contact details such as company name, the name of our contact person, any tax or registration number you give us, billing and delivery addresses, telephone number and email address.
- Account information such as your login email, password, saved addresses and order history.
- Order and transaction information such as the products and size series you view or order, quantities, the prices applied, order status and related correspondence.
- Payment-related information such as confirmation that a payment was made and the method used. Full card numbers are handled by our payment providers and are not stored by us.
- Shipping and customs information such as consignee details and documentation required by customs authorities.
- Communications such as emails, contact-form submissions and messages you send us, and our replies.
- Technical and usage information such as your IP address, device and browser type, referring page and how you move through the Services, collected using cookies.
Sources of Personal Information
- Directly from you, when you register, apply for wholesale access, request a quotation, place an order or write to us.
- Automatically through the Services, from your device and browser and through cookies and similar technologies.
- From our service providers, including Shopify, payment processors, couriers and freight forwarders.
- From third parties you involve, such as a buying or freight agent acting for your company, and from public business registries when we verify a trade buyer.
How We Use Your Personal Information
- Operating the Services and fulfilling orders. Managing your account, displaying trade pricing, processing orders, packing full size series, arranging international shipping and issuing invoices and export documents.
- Communicating with you. Answering enquiries, sending order confirmations and quotations, and providing dispatch and other service updates.
- Improving the Services. Understanding which products are viewed, diagnosing faults, and improving our catalogue and site performance.
- Marketing. Where permitted by law, telling you about new collections, restocks and wholesale offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Security and fraud prevention. Verifying that an account belongs to a genuine business, and detecting and acting on fraudulent or unlawful activity.
- Legal, tax and accounting purposes. Meeting invoicing, tax, customs and bookkeeping obligations, responding to lawful requests, and defending legal claims.
How We Disclose Personal Information
We do not sell your personal information. We disclose it only as follows:
- Service providers — Shopify, which hosts our store, plus payment processors, email providers, analytics providers and IT support, each processing on our instructions.
- Logistics partners — couriers, freight forwarders and customs brokers, so shipments can be exported, cleared and delivered.
- Professional advisers — accountants, auditors and legal advisers advising us.
- Authorities and legal process — tax, customs and law enforcement authorities, regulators and courts, where required by law or to protect our rights.
- Business transfers — a buyer or successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy.
Relationship with Shopify
The Services are hosted by Shopify, which collects and processes information about your use of the store in order to provide and improve the platform we operate on. Information you submit is therefore transmitted to Shopify and may be processed on servers outside your country. Where Shopify acts on our behalf it does so under our instructions; it also processes certain information for its own purposes as platform operator, as described in its privacy documentation on shopify.com.
Third-Party Websites and Links
The Services may link to websites, social media profiles or tools operated by third parties. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices; a link is not an endorsement. Please read the privacy notice of any site you reach through a link. Information you post in public places may be visible to others and used in ways we cannot control.
Children's Data
The Services are intended for businesses and the adults acting on their behalf. They are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the age of majority in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security and Retention of Your Information
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal information we hold, and rely on Shopify's platform security for the store itself. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send confidential material through unsecured channels.
We keep personal information for as long as we need it for the purposes above: to maintain your account, support your orders, keep the commercial, tax and customs records the law requires, and resolve disputes. When it is no longer needed, we delete or anonymise it.
Your Rights and Choices
Depending on where you are located, you may have some or all of the rights below. They are not absolute, may apply only in certain circumstances, and we may decline a request where the law permits.
- Access. To ask whether we hold personal information about you and get a copy.
- Correction. To ask us to correct inaccurate information.
- Deletion. To ask us to delete information, subject to records we must keep.
- Portability. To receive certain information in a portable format.
- Objection and restriction. To object to or restrict certain processing.
- Withdrawal of consent. Where we rely on consent, to withdraw it at any time, without affecting earlier processing.
- Marketing preferences. To opt out of marketing at any time; we may still send messages about your account and orders.
To exercise a right, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity or your authority to act for a business. We will respond within the time applicable law allows, and will not treat you unfavourably for exercising your rights.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to appeal our decision or complain to your local data protection authority.
International Transfers
We are based in Istanbul, Türkiye, and our customers, suppliers and logistics partners are spread across many countries. Your personal information will therefore be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including Türkiye and the countries where Shopify and our other providers operate, where data protection law may differ from your own.
Where we transfer personal information out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on a recognised transfer mechanism such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or the equivalent clauses approved for the United Kingdom, unless the destination benefits from an adequacy decision. Contact us for details of the safeguards applied to a particular transfer.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices, our service providers or legal requirements. We will post the revised version on this page, update the "Last updated" date above, and give additional notice where the law requires it.
